I fell violently ill(hmm, quite) right after my parents left for a trip to Japan on Monday night, quite an untimely thing to happen.
on tues i found myself not being able to focus and feeling abit disoriented...pretty much of a common flu with a head-shrinking headache, but luckily my grandma came over to fix dinner for me. of cos i've always believed in home-made remedies rather than going to the doctor - (until i sneeze blood) so i simply drank hot soup with saturated pepper and slept under 2 layers of blankets without the air-con, (but with the windows open, of cos.)of which the latter could be quite unbearable.
but the effects was gd - today morning i woke up, tried to focus for awhile and sorta determined i was fit for work. staying at home is really too boring...
i am quite sure that i cannot take care of myself.
ytd afternoon, i micro-waved my brother's leftover soup and only found out just now that i forgot about it. So i had to microwave it again so i can drink it.
No!? I threw it away actually...(duh)
then this morning i finally had a choice of making my own breakfast, which is usually done by my father, sometimes to my distaste, but i dun complain nevertheless. now when i have my own choice, i suddenly dunno wad to eat, what with all the cereals and new year snacks and instant microwave food ard. i ended up having a packet of crys tea, mango jelly and butter cookies.
(maybe i was still a little disoriented this morning. hmm.)
i had to wash the dishes and water the plants...but i haven't tried washing clothes yet. my mother taught me how and imo it shud be easy with a washing machine. maybe tml.
of cos i feel better now. still losing some focus though. although this sounds weird but i've always thought that ill ppl cannot focus well. so yur focus could be a gd gauge to yur health. i'd consider focus as on an object or a thought...i tink many things in my life are quite personalized to my preference beyond explanation. quite.
i was telling CH that life to me needs variety. but more specifically, contrasting varieties. for example i'd find it boring to spend the whole day playing computer games and watching tv. similarly, i'd find it boring to study and work. life needs a little contrast and variety. work and playing computer games is just fine. tink CH agreed also.
you might have wondered about why i didn't join my parents to go Japan. one thing is about the 'feel'. apparently if i went, i would have been sick on the plane, and have my condition worsened by the cold weather there. i know this 'feel' thing may sound absurd, maybe its just a coincidence. another thing is...i want to work. upon hearing or reading what i've said, you are only eligible to laugh it off and think im crazy if you don't know me well enough. there's more than just the surface meaning to what i've just said in the previous sentence.
past few times i felt compelled to type some economics issues from the papers on my blog but realised there's no audience other than wj who's now in the army. i tink i only have my colleagues who are more interested. then today i chanced upon a Dog Poem in the Today newspaper, under the "focus on the family" section. (pg 20, feb 21 TODAY)
by Dr James Dobson, it reads :
--Someone sent me a little poem the other day that I want to share with you. I don't know who wrote this poem, because it wasn't signed, but i enjoyed it and i think you'll like it too.
It begins like this : "If you can start the day without caffine; if you can get going without painkiller, if you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains; if you can resist complaning and boring people with your troubles; if you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it; if you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time; if you can forgive a friend's lack of consideration; if you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when, through no fault of your own, something goes wrong; if you can take critisism and blame without resentment; if you can take criticism and blame without resentment; if you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him; if you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend; if you can face the world without lies and deceit; if you can conquer tension without medical help; if you can relax without liquor; if you can sleep without the aid of draugs; if you can honestly say that deep in yur heart you have no prejudice against creed or colour, religion or politics; then, my friend, you're almost as good as yur dog. Almost, but not quite."
This poem is dedicated to every dog lover in the world.--
that was very thought provoking, and immediately i had humbled myself to a level below a dog - without scrutinising the details and arguing for mankind - that would have killed the meaning of wads meant to be inspiring.
and since i mentioned about the newspaper i was also particularly interested to read about "Ideas for better future Budgets" under the Voices section (pg 18)
in part 2 the writer of the letter suggested to raise the GST to 10 per cent from 7 per cent. i tink ppl who know me know that im quite supportive of GST raise, but i also pay attention to whether the government really are able to translate the increase in govt revenue into benefits for the lower-middle class and to reduce the income gap.
most ppl my age either dun care or downplay the gst raise, but im just another person with slightly different thinking. i tink that most ppl, including me, fail to see past our selfishness and personal benefits for the greater good.
ask you, if you had a chance to pressure yur boss for a 50% pay raise, of which you have extraordinary abilities to read yur boss' mind who would definitely succumb to yur demands without reprisal, would you?
if you had a chance to work less hours while getting the same monthly pay, would you?
almost nobody will say no, including me. but if there's anyone who will, i'd salute him.
blahblahblah, ppl who study econs know that wage-cost-push inflation is bad, and the higher the Aggregate Supply is, the better it is for the economy. apparently wads good for the individual is bad for the economy, and vice versa. (econs student will uds easily) but who make up the economy? CIG (X-M) , ultimately, we are the C...(consumption)
and i dunno why but i surely have to say this, you shudn't lay under 2 layers of blanket with the air-con off if you have a flu
AND a fever. you shud see a doctor. you'd be crazy to follow my footsteps, but if u really are, you are cautioned that one man's meat is another man's poison, as mentioned in the Da Chang Jin drama serial.
