it was lunchtime when my colleagues were preparing for a FINAL SHOWDOWN with jenn, our boss, amidst beliefs that she'll drop by winsland hse today.
alas, there was no showdown, thus no chance to voice our misery to her. but today is important to me cos it sorta awakened me to my colleagues' 'cries of injustice'...err?
they'd all agree that i'm listening to too much of ch's Ipod (esp ch himself) to be aware of wads going on - the news and updates. basically, everyone's leaving. for some, they're requesting to leave early, or apply leave, or ask for a shortening of working time and a reduction in daily quota which we struggle everyday to meet. of cos no one would deny that we've overworked, not to gain pity, but just too much for our own good - our welfare.
xm daily problems is being bullied by HSBC staff, as i would describe. too easily does he succumb to their demands of quality, and usually quality and quantity don't go hand in hand. which affects our quota. not to mention that i've done most of the re-scanning of 21 boxes of docs.
errr...when my colleagues start to think of ways to get fired, things shud really be bad. becos we know jenn wun allow us to quit so easily. we all think that we're really valuable to her and she knows it. not that we're that godlike workers, but rather, if she's gonna hire newcomers to replace us, its going to take weeks to reach our lvl of productivity. ideally, she'd want to retain us for as long as she could. i joked that she might even go the jetty to catch us to go work when we book out for tekong.
"when i see her at the jetty i'll jump off the boat and swim back to tekong" - xm
work is still fine other than a few bizzare incidents that caused injury. injuries are pretty commonplace - esp papercuts - but today was the 1st time i've ever...
1. Had a staple
bullet cut into the flesh under my nail on my right thumb while reaching out for my wallet that dropped onto the carpet floor. the carpet was littered with those staple bullets. it felt numbing and irritating.
2. Grabbed the razor edges of the scotch tape holder with my fingers, which was aimed at picking up the stapler just beside it, without the aid of my eyes. my reflexes made me jerk my arm back after contact, to the surprise of CH who was sitting beside.
but life will go on, as we hope that jenn comes so we could speak to her in person rather than discuss such issues over the phone.
